Lowinformation
voters

are people who instead of formulating their own opinion, rely more on so-called “experts” and opinionated media personalities to define their positions on candidates and ballot issues.

Low information voters are targeted for their lack of interest in understanding layers of an issue and their steadfast resistance to changing their opinions in light of new information if it is counter to their current opinion.

Strategists love low information voters because they are more easily convinced with simplified messaging and are less likely to question what they’re being told.

“I feel people getting news from second hand sources are increasing, people who have heard about the news topic and are now injecting their opinion or take and passing that as ‘news.’ The shorter, more condensed the argument the more the reader feels, ‘yeah, this makes sense.  Why would anyone ever disagree with this?’”

The good news is the fact that you’re actually reading this right now means you are NOT trending towards being a low information voter. Our democracy needs more participants like you!

“You can't keep claiming that crime is higher in blue cities than it is in red states; the kids know how to use Google… You can't raise race-baiting issues like the supposed "border crisis" with the most racially and ethnically diverse generation in U.S. history…  All of the misinformation tactics that drove "low-information voters" to the polls won't work on a generation that is constantly having to correct their parents' Facebook posts. This is high-information voting bloc, and it has learned how to fact-check on the fly.”
